Side mirror covers...

I've got the black side mirror covers on my 95 Z and they are starting to look like a$$. They have permanent bug spots on them and someone keyed one of 'em it looks like. Are these things easy to change out or do you have to replace the whole assembly? The mirrors are powered too, so would that complicate the process more?

Thanks for any help,

Kyle

Lightbulb idea

its not for everyone, but colgan makes a cover that is kind of like a car bra, but just for the side mirrors..

check em out, they have regualar and "carbon fiber", and dont get scared by the "carbon fiber" part, my buddy got a cf one for his RSX and it just looks like a weave... i dunno, i think it looks pretty good...

the car bras are hella better than lebra, too...

new sideviews need to be replaced altogether....power mirrors dont complicate anything. all you do is plug in the plug sticking out of the side of the car and tighten 3 bolts....new mirrors go for about 80 bucks each from GM....

Are all 4th gens the same or are the LS1 cars different because of the different front end? I'm thinking of just going to some junkyards and looking for some.

Thanks for the help so far,
Kyle

Is there anything physically wrong with them? Why don't you just take them off and repaint them then put them back on?

Well, the part that got keyed is DEEP, and I think some of the rock chips are deep enough that they'd need filling, and then it's just not reasonable to paint them. Might as well get different ones.

Nah, it wouldn't be too much work to just repaint them. Any body shop could make those look like new. I would take it to a body shop and ask for some estimates.

Finally a thread I know alot about!! A while back someone stole my side view mirror, and I didn't know about forums and junkyards so I went to GM. GM charges 100 bux and they come primer well maybe not primer but not painted(looks like 93-97 camaros that don't have the headlight area painted). To get it painted, cheapest estimate I found was 60 bux.

I had a truck take one of my mirrors off a week after i got my car (sux huh) and the replacement mirrors aren't primed. theyre' just dark plastic but they AREN'T like the headlight surrounds on LT1s....i put mine on without painting it for awhile because i ddint have time....over the course of a couple weeks the mirror FADES a lot in the sun. top of it is almost white now months later (yea im lazy i know). so if u do buy new mirrors get em painted right away.

ya thats what I meant...The paint fades to a light color...I guess it is primer? I am to scared to spray paint it so until I buy another one I go the ghetto route and tire shine it!
