Shrinking the wheel well gap.

Shrinking the wheel well gap.
I really hate how there is the huge gap between the wheel well and the wheel. Right now I'm running the stock 16" chrome plated wheel. I have thought of three options to reduce the wheel gap.
1. Buy a set of SLP take off SS wheels for $400. This is a ridiculusly low price for a set of OEM wheels. I'm over my ghetto days and the obession with chrome rims.
2. Buy the Eibach Pro kit springs to drop the car about 1". My main worry about doing this is ground clearnce. I'm afraid I won't be able to go over huge speed bumps or up steep driveways.
3. Do both.
I'd appreciate your input/opinions. And if we could get some pics going that would be great.

Re: Shrinking the wheel well gap.
Option #1 will not help your problem
The tires which the vast majority use on the 17x9" SS wheels are 275/40/17. These tires have pretty much exactly the same overall diameter as the stock tires on 16" wheels. So, the distance from the ground to the top of the tire will not (should not) change just by getting different sized wheels.
I'd do option number 3 but only because I think the wheels look better than the 16" wheels (even the chrome ones).
The Eibach Pro kit is a good choice. I think so long as you don't have ground effects on your car, the drop will not greatly affect how you drive the car. I have the Eibach Pro kit on my 94Z convertible and 94Z Vortech car. I can barely drive the 94Z Vortech car over a garden hose but that's because of the ground effects. The 94Z convertible has no ground effects and I have not needed to adjust my driving with that car at all.
Here are some pics of the convertible so you can get an idea of what it would look like with stock height tires...

Re: Shrinking the wheel well gap.
I couldn't stand that 4X4 look either. I went with the Eibach pro kit. In my opinion, I think GM should of went with this stance from the factory. I have SLP style sub-frame connectors and they will scrape only on steep inclines. I have some before and after pics but I don't know how to post them here. If you give me your e-mail address I can send them to you.

Brent,
You are absolutely right about the 17" wheel not taking up any more room in the wheelwell. I had a brain fart.
I think I'll go with the springs for sure, your vert looks killer with those springs.
Yes I know about the 5 line sig rule. You are the first person to say anything about it though, so at your request it'll be fixed.
