I have all the nessecary things to install T's on my new maro, but the question is, should I?

Let's set aside all the "dont cut the car" and "buy a t-top car" posts. I want to know what it's like to have them. I've never owned a car that had them, other than the parts car I bought, and I never drove it.

Just research it out before hand...

Its not doable, but its not as easy as most people make it seem on the internet.

 

I never ever use my T-tops. They are such a pain to get off and you have to have your hatch area clean to store them. I always have something in my hatch. I also think that hard top cars look 100x's better. I wish my car was a hard top.

 

Go for it. After first owning a targa, then a hardtop, I missed a removeable roof so much I just had to have t-tops. The only reason they're off is that in the summer I have a garage spot so when I park the car with them off they stay that way till I take it out again. I never use my hatch anyway. I don't think I could cut my car up like that tho

My Z28 was a hardtop, and I never realized just how nice that was until I got my TA. I never use the t-tops on the TA, except maybe when I clean the car (helps me get to the back with the vacuum ). I second the thoughts about the clean look of the hardtops too, aswell as the hatch storage problems. But, it's your car, so do what you want .

I would look at it as a huge pain the in a$$...but hey whatever floats your boat...Ive had 2 LT1's and the've both been hardtops...never missed the ttops for a second

 

I used to have a hartop v6 camaro and regretted not getting one w/ ttops and was even contemplating cutting my car too! once i got the Z in april I really liked having the ttops over the hardtop, i pretty much take them off whenever it's nice out. I vote yes.

 

If your going that far allready, ide say make it into a targa top that would look awesome

 

No you should sell all the parts to me at a discount price so I can have T-tops!

I thought I remember reading a long while back that you have to be careful of the structual integrity of the vehicle, and that a hardtop car is not the same structuarly as a t-top car. I could be wrong though. Just might want to look into that, I wouldnt want to be in a bad accident and have something horrible happen.

That aside, if you have the skills (or the money if you are paying to have it done) I would go for it. I have owned a vert and a t-top, and I love the t-tops waaaaaay better. Absolutly love them!

you won't harm the structural integrity of your car by doing the conversion. the hardtop and the ttop cars have the same structure. notice in your headliner how there's that t-bar in the middle. all cars came ready to be ttops, once you take the "skin" off your roof (the hardtop) you'll see the holes are already in your roof...just making that first cut if the hardest part, no turning back after that!

 

I feel the same way. Throw a nice race stripe down that car instead, something that ttop people can't do.
