Question Seat Removal

Is there anything special I need to know about removing the front and rear seats from my 94 Z?

I am getting ready to replace them with a new set of seats, and I want to remove these without damaging them. Is there a guide somewhere I can look at?

Thanks, in advance!

E

Cool

Pretty straightforward, just undo the the 4 bolts and remove the seats. If you have a power driver's seat then you just un-plug it.

yep pretty straight forward. 13mm bolts hold seats in. it should take you about 20 mins the front seats have 4 bolts in them and then you have to use a philips head screwdriver to undo the seatbelts off the side. on the back seats take the buckets out first the bolt is in the middle under the front of it. and then undo the back rest and you will need an allen wrench to disconnect the seatbelts. its a pretty easy task what seats are you putting in?

I got a set of leather seats from fparts salvage on eBay, that I'm putting in. They should be here this week.

Check them out and tell me what you think:

Does anyone have any advice on the door panels?

Re: Seat Removal

Buy a hollow pipe about a foot long that is just wide enough to slide on the handle of whatever you are using. That should be PLENTY of torque.

Re: Seat Removal

The bolts in the backseat are probably going to be a bitch to get out. Once you break them it will be easy, still tight, but easy. I didnt have a breaker bar or hollow pipe, but it can be done by hand...wear gloves if you do it by hand....

Mine was a Torx bolt...
I just used a 3/8" ratchet and a hammer. (It has a lifetime warranty).

I found out too that they are very likely to strip. Reason being, they are Loc-Tite'd in there, and they grab very well. When I went to reinstall mine this last time (have only been out twice) they had metal wrapped up around the bolt threads. Sure enough, one of the holes was stripped. Not so bad that it wouldn't hold the bolt tight, but I couldn't use my muscles putting it back on.

Re: Seat Removal

Using an air hammer will help alot. Ernster why are you replacing your seats? I saw those seats you got from leatherseats.com and I bought a set that was the same only with a white insert.

What do you mean advice?

Black sets run for alot more money than grey sets.
Tan sets sell for less than gray sets.

Try ebay, I got my black ones for $180 I think. I did the total grey to ebony conversion.

I had a ruff time trying to reupholster the door panels.
