Satin Paintjobs, Do you like them? Pics inside

I was searching some ideas for my cars paint. Its the Patriot Red? the dark maroon on the Z28's. And in AZ paint doesnt last 13 years without proper care. Obviously my car had no proper care. And Satin paint jobs look sick, easy to do, and wont fade out as bad so quickly.

Here are some pics, tell me what you think.

I love all of these color options, but idk how it would look on an f-body

I like the first one and last one. Never thought white would look good in satin, but it does! Not diggin that Porsche though. I think an f-body might just look like a half finished project if you're rollin around with satin paint....

It's highly dependent on the car, and I agree with everything 6speed just said. Too many Camaros roll around in primer, and that's what satin usually looks like to me. If satin paint isn't spotless clean, it just looks like some half-finished project car.

This was posted a while back. The Bird on the right is matte with clearcoat. I think it has a finished, stealthy look.

The problem with those satin paint jobs is that if you get a door ding you can see it from every angle. You have to have really perfect bodywork or everything shows.

Most if not all of our F-bodies have slight dimples in the top of our rear quarterpanels for whatever reason, and I could imagine that those would be even more apparent if the paint was not glossy.

I do not like green eggs and ham and I do not like satin paint jobs either.

when my buddy and I painted the bird a couple months ago when we wet sanded it to prep it, I thought it looked badass, dark satan green, with those big fenders, I liked it, hell I drove on a night out with my buddies, looked mean as hell.

Satin finishes only belong in the interior.

I like the satin stuff. It gives kind of a rough, raw, stealthy look. As far as satin paint being easier... Think again... I have been painting now for 12 years. Glossy paint is simple. If you have a flaw in your final clear, it can be wet sanded and buffed out. With satin paint, a "flattening agent" is put in the clearcoat. The degree of flat is based on how much of that you put in. I.E. semi-gloss, eggshell, satin, flat. The most difficult part of the flat clear is that no flaws can be buffed out. If you try to buff flattened clearcoat, it gets glossy. Flaws are stuck in your finished product. Prep work and application must be perfect!!!
