Rusting camaros..
Rusting camaros..
in the 96 range, where would the weathered spots first, as far as rust is concerned? I am thinking of buying a camaro from the NY area and it got me thinking. If something is gonna start rusting and causing problems, where would that be? I would think QP first, but, I dont know. Should I look in the rails in the front? Fastners in the front? If I could only get a pic or two from the guy, where should I ask him to take it for a sure tell tale sign of salt abuse? I would hate to buy a NY camaro and have the fenders rusting out in no time after a 3k paint job.
Re: Rusting camaros..
I would check the floorpans and wheel wells. Basically anything underneath the car can rust if exposed to road salt and snow. I live in the Chicago area so that was one of the challenges for me when shopping for a used f-body. Luckily I found a Chicago car that was spared from the Chicago winters so the undercarriage is in really good shape.
Re: Rusting camaros..
down her in the south we never have to check a vehicle for rust. My camaro was drove 365 before i got it. were lucky tho as it snows here maby 1 time every 5 years. We dont even get much ice. The bottom of my camaro looked brand new when i got it and it still does. If i were you i would check the cross members, the tq arm, and floor pans.
