Rust spot..

I did a search for "rust" in the Care and Main. section and it seems alot of people have rust problems on chrome tips. Well I have a tiny rust spot starting on my flowmaster aluminized tip (from the American Thunder system for a 96 Z) and was wondering what is the best way to get that out.

A friend and I were thinking about sanding it down than spray painting it with high temp silver spray paint (do they make it in silver?)..but I don't know about that and I'm not sure how that would look.

There is a pic of the rust spot.

I did notice how some people suggested for a person to use aluminum polish ( http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=363099 ) but I'm not sure if that would remove the rust.

Re: Rust spot..

You really just need to get some stainless tips, the rust will eat those aluminized tips up from the inside too.

When I first got my cat-back I was thinking of using some Borla tips..anyone able to recommend anything that is built nicely and not to expensive and won't rust nearly as fast..

I would assume that I am going to have to buy a tip that is bigger than my current pipe size which is 2 1/2" .. however is it possible to use 2 1/2" tips on 2 1/2" pipe? Could they just weld right onto each other rather than slip over the pipe and than weld on?

Camaros look better without tips in the back anyways...get a single in single out muffler with a turndown and you're set

Other than that I think I'd get stainless tips so you don't have to worry about it no mo!
