That's pretty cool actually.

I made my own though... although I need to have it recovered, the person who did it the first time didn't do tha great of a job.

Pics in the sig...

Yes, that is a console from a 3rd gen Berlinetta Camaro... my friends 86 berlinetta had that... kinda cool, would love to see it up close to see how the fit is. It has some roller numbers for putting last oil change mileage and stuff like that up there... also had a removable flash light and two swivel reading lamps as I recall.

Here's a close up:

You can see the flashlight in this one:

http://berlinetta.info/mypics/95Z-28...terior0802.JPG

The roof console was standard equipment on the Berlinetta and optional on most other F-bodies after that. Option code DK6.

I used the T-top style roof console (flat) and not the Hardtop version (shaped). The only obstacle to installing it was clearance for the map light...... I cut a small hole in the metal T-Top center section and the console fit "like a glove".

Also worth mentioning is that the contacts for the map light need to be wrapped or covered by electrical tape. These contacts on the back of the map-light are positive connections to the lamps and they will make contact with the cars T-Top center section in not wrapped.

** I only cut a small hole in the center section for the map light bulb clearance, a larger hole could be cut so the positive contacts on the map light can't possibly make contact. I liked the little hole because it allowed the roof console to sit flush on the headliner with no ill effects after wrapping the positive contacts !!

Cool

I like it! That's a great idea IMO.

Now, let the salvage yard people all wonder why there is this sudden mad rush of sales Berlinetta overhead consoles! LOL!

When I installed my Roof console I used an old thirdgen headliner as a template. You can use this picture to create your own template,....... it should make installing your roof console a breeze !!

For anyone interested, I have a T-TOP roof console for sale - $115 (shipped Priority Mail and insured). It is a COMPLETE roof console that includes the UNCUT factory wiring, 4 correct mounting studs, & a WORKING flashlight.

Here's a picture of the actual roof console for sale.......
