I was thinking of putting some older style wheels on my '97 z28. Anyone done this? Or does anyone know what I would need to consider if I did do this?

 

I don't think the older wheels would fit because of the different offsets and stuff. You'd have to find a modern update like torque thrust 2's or some cragar's

 

What wheels are you wanting exactly?

Well, I don't really have anything in specific in mind. I just want to know if it's possible and what it would take.

I guess the generic answer is I want something that looks like it came off a 67 camaro. I like that old style "mag" wheel.

 

Weld racing actually makes a wheel called "Rodlite Xp" in 16's+ that look pretty sweet. They have them on a black LS1 SS in their ads.

Those weld racing wheels look pretty cool. I would stay with more current wheels imo.

 

i had 15 in cragar SS rims on my 90 rs --- looked pretty dang good with the new paint on the car and the tops off and the system blasting goin down to the beach to sit next to vipers lol

i like cragars they are a little thicker i guess u can say but they wouldnt look good on a 4th gen i would say get the torq's but that is my opinion do what you like look around

 

OK, but what dimension type stuff do I need to know. I know the 4th gens have a 5x4.75 bolt pattern but thats it. Is there anything eslse I need to know.

My Dad and I really like the Cragar s/s Super Sport wheel. If I got these in 17s would I be able to slap on lower profile high performance tires? Or would I be stuck with those big fat tires they put on all the old muscle cars.

 

im sure u can get low profiles on them i only got 15's cuz i wasnt keepin the car for that long and i needed atleast a lil crome in there lol

 

there's a 85-90ish third gen around here with old style (like would come on a first gen) wheels...i dont think it looks TOO bad on a third gen but a fourth gen is too curvy and modern looking for anything like that...
