How hard is it to take off and put on a new front clip? I've heard it's kinda hard. My friends prelude rolled back into my car, and cracked the front at the drivers side fog light, pulled off some paint/clearcoat around the headlight, the fog light, and a small part of the drivers side fender. Not to mention completely screwing up the front end (fitment wise), cause it messed up the drivers side, and threw the passengers side out of "alignment". Does anyone with experience in these matters know about what it would cost, or how easy it is to find a used front clip?

 

I had someone back into the front drivers side corner of my car last month. They broke a fender the front clip and bent the hood. I took it to a body shop to get done, but it was almost $2000 to get it done.

Check ebay, they had a few front clips on there this morning.

 

$2000? Dang, that's a lot of cash. I didn't bend at hood, but I may cash in on this deal.

 

They did have to repaint pretty much the whole front end of the car, which was probably about $7-800 of the work. Good thing its the insurance company paying.

 

I need to replace my front clip too. It isnt flush with the fenders and is all dinged up. You cant tell from far away but it isnt in the best of shape. I've tried looking for diagrams of how it's connected but there are none. So if anyone has experience with removing and installing the front clip I'd like to know how to do it as well.

 

Hey guys, i'm restoring an '83 Z, and i just stripped it down to the frame for repainting. To get the front clip off (this is 3rd gen) I just used a rachet and an extension to reach up from inside the fender wells and undo the 4 nuts (10mm?) that hold the nose on. You will also need to take the fender ground effects off, which is really easy, you can just leave the ground effects attached to the front clip, and it should come with it. Next, you have to unsrew 2 10mm nuts that are on the inside of each of the headlights, and the metal bar that is by the hood release. The last thing you have to do is to get the plastic clips on the top and bottom that hold the nose to the frame. I used a needlenose pliers, and only broke a few of them... if you know a better way to get these off, i would appreciate it if you would let me know .

It took me like 2 hrs to take the clip off, but i also removed the fenders.
