Repair ripped cloth interior?

Repair ripped cloth interior?
Hey guys I have a 1986 Camaro Z28 with about a 5 inch rip directely on top of the driver's seat. Can I use a traditional needle and thread to repair? Rest of the cloth interior is in exceptional condition except for this one rip.
Any suggrstions ?
