Exclamation Removing the RS Ground Effects

I have a '99 HO Z28 that came from the factory with the RS ground effects/spoiler package.

I'm planning to lower the car using G2 springs and Koni SA shocks later this week, and figure now is the time to remove these ground effects.

I want to make sure I dont damage them, that way I can reinstall later if I want to return the car to stock.

Anyone have any experience/tips doing this? It looks like there are the black "clips" which will just pull out. There are also some "brackets" under there with rivets (I'm assuming I'll need to drill those out). Lastly, where they terminate in the wheelwell, there are two black (rubber) fasteners. They almost look like they have a hex-head, but its just a dimple. How do these come out?

Any help would be appreciated. I'm hoping most holes that will remain wont be readily visible when the car is lowered, and wont collect dirt/rust.

Thanks!

I did try to search, but I didn't find anything useful.

I would think the rear and sides would, the front is a different shape so I dont think it would fit.

I'm thinking of holding on to it for now, but I'll let you know if I change my mind. Not even sure what they would be worth.

I think so too!

I got under the front bumper today and got the two front pieces off. It looks like the remaining holes point down and are almost invisible from the front and sides. Someday I might have things filled/smoothed, but it looks good for now. Just gotta get the sides and back off then drop it!

Well they are off. Looks a lot better than it did, but there are holes along the bottom-facing edges as I expected there would be. At its current height, they are hardly noticible. Once it's lowered, they should be even less so.

I'm hopefully picking up a CME valence this weekend ('01-'02 style) and when I get that painted, I'll probably have the holes filled, sanded and painted.

camarolt4ss, PM me what you think they could be worth. Also, I am in TX so I'd expect shipping to be a nightmare considering the size.

The rear spoiler? I think it does. I have not removed this at this time. If you are referring to the front 'airdam' parts they used aluminum rivets and plastic "push ins" to hold it in place.

I will leave the rear deck spoiler in place until I decide whether to change to the SS spoiler - which will then require filling/sanding/painting the holes along with paint.

Needless to say, this is not exactly a cheap mod if you want to do it right.

Really? Hmm... I was always told there were bolted on. Do you have any references that indicate the use of 3M? Of course, the paint might be a different color under there.

Anyway, here some pics in a thread over on another website.
