Question Removing reflective letters

I pulled off my rear reflective CAMARO letters to replace them with some letters I ordered from SS Inserts. I pulled most of the letters off, but there are some pieces that tore and are still stuck on. I tried Goo Gone, but that didn't seem to do anything. The only thing that seemed to work was to scrape them with my fingernail, but that seemed to take a long time. Is there a better way to go about this, or am I pretty much stuck with scratching them off? Any info would be much appreciated!

Rico, I was thinking of doing the same thing tomorrow. I have silver reflective stickers that I'm going to remove so I can put the stainless steel inserts in. How did you remove the vinyl letter??

Well that's my problem, I was able to peal most of the lettering off but some won't come off. For example, some of the "M" is off but most of it is still on. I kept scratching and though it seemed to work, it is just taking a long time. And that's only on one letter!

try a hair dryer.........if you get the adhesive matterial that holds them on there to melt, then it will be easier to get them off................(thats what the gm dealers us to get factory pin strips off............ya know some camaros come with pin strips down the side of them...i.e-- for decoration).........try a hair dryer...........that should do it

hope that helps......good luck

That's a pretty good idea. I was actually thinking about using a heat gun, except I have no clue where mine is.

The reason the goo gone didn't work is because you peeled off only about 1/2 the vinyl and left the "reflective" part behind. What you are seeing isn't the adhesive which is why the "adhesive dissolver" doesn't work.

You'll probably just have to keep scraping away with your figernail

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'll try the hair dryer, and if all else fails then like Brent said back to the fingernails!
