Removing Center Console / How do you pop the A4 Shifter?
How do you pop the A4 Shifter Boot without breaking it? It's in the way so I cannot remove the entire center console... Does it unscrew like the M6 Shifters or do you have to unscrew / unbolt something under the console?

First you use a small screwdriver to pry the button off of the shifter, from the back (side that faces you). Then you push down on the white thing and twist it a 1/4 turn to remove it and the black part. Then you remove the spring.
After that, there is a huge mega-staple in the front of the leather wrapped area that needs to be pryed out (it isn't in there very tough, and you shouldn't damage the staple or the leather wrapped thing). After you remove that, you simply pull STRAIGHT UP on the leather wrapped piece to remove it. Make sure not to hit yourself in the forehead with it, because it will pop right off with some muscle.
Make sure that once you get that removed and the shifter plate, you remove any gunk in there and try to get loose coins out of there. If you have trouble shifting out of park, make sure to lube it really well with white grease in there. I just did this in the past few days, so I don't think I left any instructions out. Let me know if you need anymore help.

Awsome, Thanks... Also how do you remove the Ash Tray DOOR on the Center Console? I've popped it out but it appears to still be latched by a spring of some sort? Can it be removed without any damage? I want to put an XM Reciever Unit there however I do not know if it will fit correctly and if it doesn't, I'd like to replace the door...

Hmm... when I took the shift plate off and cleaned it, I didn't really look into removing the lid on the ashtray. I bet it can be removed, but I don't really have any idea what to tell you. :-\

There's a metal little spring/lever that was in it if I remember correctly, I remember mine broke awhile back and we just took a tiny screw and used that, worked like a charm.
