Removed antenna, now what?

I removed the antenna from my car and have the gaping hole. Should I bondo it or weld a piece of scrap metal on it? Any ideas?

I'd like to see you weld fiberglass. That would be interesting.

I'd fiberglass it, but only if you have the knowledge. If not, take it to someone who does!

I'm confused, was that supposed to be sarcasm? I thought the rear quarter panels were metal, not fiberglass.

Yeah rear corners are metal, i thought they were aluminium. Hmm the best solution would be to weld a piece in that is cut right to size. using some tape on either side as u tac it. I am not sure it being Al and all.

You, Good Sir, are a moron.

And my antenna is on the front fender, not rear quarter panel.

So I'll weld it if I can. Thanks.

The way I understand it is to do this:

1) get a piece of 18 gauge sheet metal
2) bend the sheet meta to the contour of the fender
3) trace the hole you plan on welding to the sheet metal
4) cut out the patch you traced
5) tape or magnet the piece in place
6) spot weld around the piece untill it's welded all the way around
go slowly so you don't warp the metal too much
7) grind the welds smooth
8) if it did warp work the metal smooth and straight again
9) prime and paint
