Removal of hood scoop griile

I bought a new hood scoop grille for my car and thought it would be good to figure out how the original one came out so I dont scratch the hell out of my hood. I have the SS hood. Has anyone done this? Any help would be appreciated!!

I bought my grille at the local dealership. Im in Az and the dealership is called Brown and Brown. I have a good friend that works there and he got it as a special order and I dont know where that was from. The car is a 1997 SS. Hope that helps!!
Thanks,
Adam

Just pops in place. Has several small tabs that hold it in. Use a small screw driver to pry it out and be gentle.

I have a 96-97 SS style hoodscoop grille i got from SLP in my hood and the tabs are really brittle they hardly move at all. So for fair warning don't mess around with it in the cold.

Yes!! I know what you are talking about with the frille being stiff. I got the grille off with no problem, then when I was trying to put the new one on, it was almost like it was too tall and the tabs wouldnt budge. Do I have to almost crush the grille to get it in place?? I compared it to my old one and it is a good 3/16 of an inch taller, and I cant get it to fit in the hole. Thanks!!

Do you have a real SS? What i have noticed is some LT1 aftermarket hoods come with the LS1 style hoodscoop grill which i think is smaller than the 96-97 SS grill.

It is an aftermarket hood. So I have to buy an LS1 grille?? That makes a lot of sense, thanks for your help!!
