rear bumper paint cost???$$$$

How much should it cost to have a rear bumper painted? I will be removing and installing the bumper myself. I tried a search, but found page after page of response to similiar subjects. Thanks!

actually it would be better if you left it on the car. Being plastic the panels bend a lot when you reinstall them, the odds are that the new paint might crack or get scratched putting it back on the car.

I agree, I would probably leave it on the car if possible (I just got my front bumper painted and thats what the paint shop recommended). Not sure on the rear bumper-my front bumper cost me $300-no body damage the paint was just a little faded

Should cost about $150-$180 for a rear bumper cover, assuming there is no damage.... Just a refinish/repaint ...

So I should leave it on the car? I figured the paint shop would remove it there and reinstall it, costing me more money.

i disagree with leaving it on the car because the paint/plastic bending. bumper covers should be properly prepped with bumper primer and flex additive in the paint/clear coat. when properly applied and cured the cover should easliy be able to handle minor bending for install.

same thing is done at the factory paint shop...covers are painted first then installed after cure.

Take it off and paint it, its cheaper reallly, like 4 nuts, 2 bolts, maybe 8 push in clips. The fresh paint won't crack unless the rubber is cracked underneath, the shop will use two people to put it on anyway so it won't bend to much.
