KMOOK,

I just was looking at a picture of I think it was Dave Deluc car(Sled28)? He has a picture of a raised SS hood on his LT1 Camaro:

www.landrocket.com/sled/SLED28/car2

You can see some what of the hood. If my memories serves me correct I remember him mentioning it was a very limited production or ever one off?

Hope this help,
Jim

Thanks Jim, ill look into that more.

Oh and i called VFN again and asked about a custom hood. They are on crack

They said they'll put a raised ss scoop from an ls1 setup on a lt1 hood, but that it will still have the stock slits on the lt1 hood and that the scoop would be covering part of the slits WTF that would be insanely dumb. I said "well cant you just fiberglass the slits and then put the scoop on"? "no we cant do that".

And they wont sell the raised hood seperately in fear of someone copying it, so i cant even do it myself. ARGH

i think rksport sells a bigger SS hood it is called the big block hood. It isn't the one the iroc one either some companies call that a big block too. It looks just like a larger SS hood i believe it is wider and taller than a stock SS.

Oh i get what you mean now. I guess that is an option. I ruled it out since the scoop covers part of the slits but i guess you could just fill in the parts of the slits that are exposed... Didnt think of it that way but i guess it could work.

I just remembered another place that offers very good quality light weight fiberglass and they also have SS hoods for the LT1 without the hood slits. They may also be able to streach the hood. Here's the link: www.glasstek.com

I have been meaning to call them my self to find out if they will streach the hood and how much they can go? If you call them and they will streach the hood please post what they said.

Thanks,

Yeh ill call them tomorrow, thanks for the link.

When you say strech, are you refering to a longer hood to compensate for no wipers/shroud or streched higher scoop?

Why not just get a SS hood and take it to a body shop and tell them to make it a couple inches higher?

KMOOK,
Did you check www.usbody.com? If so, what did you think? Their SS hood is 2.5 inches tall (1.35 inches over OEM).
Thanks!

Hmm i guess 2.5" would be ok, i was wanting 3-3.5" but i think 2.5 would be enough.

I also liked the idea of gaining a lot of room by removing the wipers/shroud and using a longer hood like VFN has, but it seems like they arent cooperating. If i can get VFN to make me a longer 3" hood ill definately go that route if not ill probably use Usbody.

I was speaking to my chassis builder and he said talk to the hood company because in some hoods the company can actually streach the scoop to make it higher. Say going from 2" to 4".

I know what your talking about when it comes to VFN I spoke them a few months ago. They will do just about anything but for a small fee! LOL! Ya right!

I have a coul hood that is both streached to the windshield and streached height of the coul. My chassis builder did the work him self. My hood is very simaliar to a prostock truck hoods.

Maybe a chassis company could streach a hood you purchase but then again in the long run you end up having a ton of money in a hood.

Good Luck,
Jim
