Radar Detector Mounting
Radar Detector Mounting
Got tired of the stupid cord hanging in front of the dash, wrapping it around the pax cup holder and clogging the 12v socket....so...
Accessed the protected side of the cig/accy fuse and ran a wire out the left front of the panel and around behind the moulding that comes up the front of the driver door. Took it all the way down the door sill and up that back, behind the T-top guide, and under the headliner, exiting at the top center of the windshield (right by the mirror light wiring). Actually took two wires up there, one for the 12v and one for ground. Spliced them onto the final 6" of the existing detector plug.
Back at the fuse box, tinned the hot wire and slid it into the connector along with the fuse (remember to use the right side, it's the protected side). There are a number of grounds available there, I used a washered bolt to the left of the steering column).
Now that baby sits at the top of the windshield, just left of the rearview mirror and works like a champ. Felt so good I did the TB bumpstop mod just for kicks! BTW - the stereo shop said "35 bucks" to do that. Naw, I'll save for new tires.
Hope this helps!

The bumpstop is on the throttlebody. It manually stops the throttle when you go to WOT. Unfortunately, on most stock LS1 engines, that does not coincide with the throttle plate being open 90 degrees.
Take a look when you have your lid/MAF/bellows off and see how far your throttle plate opens when you manually open the throttle all the way. You may be surprised.
