i wouldnt suggest buying some no name seats, there was/is a guy on here selling a set of corbeau seats for $400, check out the for sale section. I would highly reccomend getting a used set of a name brand rather than a no name set you have never sat in.

that is my biggest worry, that they will feel like S*** or cheaply made. besides corbeau are there any other companies, besides sparco and momo? (too expensive , plus they are assoc. with ricers/fast and the furious) not my style.
thanks for the quick reply

If i was buying a seat, i wouldnt go half a$$ed with a no name brand seat. Recaro, Sparco, MOMO, Corbeau, Cobra are all good brands of seats. When i replace mine they will be Recaro's or Sparcos. These arent ricey, they are the best seats you can get for complete function. Rice is when a guy puts a 4 foot spoiler on his car, puts a dragon or somthing down the side, and puts a tin can Cough** i mean a universal muffler on his car. Thats rice.

by the sounds of it, your purchase of the seats would be pure looks, so whose fast and furious rice boy now>?

i didnt explain it well enough and i wasnt looking for a flame either, i ment to say that i dont really want momo or sparco b/c when people see that all they think about is f&f , next, like i said in my post that is my biggest worry, "that they will feel like S*** or cheaply made. " (the ones i seen on ebay while causualy browising) so Obviously it is about comfort and function first , then looks

zachattack45 , i just found out that my buddy has recaro seats in his firebird, they feel real high class, good qaulity,i think they are the recaro "speed" seats thanks for the help

If you are only concerned about comfort and quality you need to get over the fact the Ricers like Sparcos and Recaros. They like them because they are pretty much the best seats available.

What about weight savings though? I mean, thats the real point of race seats right? Is there any page that lists different weights for aftermarket seats, including the bracket. I was looking at those APC seats as well in Summit or Jegs, and for the price, its really tempting, but I just wonder if besides looks, there is any enhancement to switch to "race seats." I guess its finding the balance between a true race seat from Kirkey (or a plastic one from Summit or jegs) and a seat that you could stand being in for 8 hours.

I know that Sparco and Recaro's will save you a good amount of weight if you dont get them in leather. Im going to get some Recaro's as soon as my engine swap is done. They are comfortable, strong, classy, and light. Seems like the best value to me.

The seats are for much more than just weight savings. They are for comfort, mine make my crappy stock seats feel like a wooden park bench. The stock seats (yes even the TA seats) hold you in place about as well as a park bench also. Every time I hop in my SS which has stock seats, I realize how bad they are, and how much I have to brace myself against the door or center console just making a slow U-turn. With the Sparcos and the 5 point harness, I don't move, only my head bobs around no matter how badly I thrash the car. You feel more connected, your body relaxes, and all you feel is the pedals and the wheel in your hands. You can actually feel the car start to break the rear tires at the edge of its handling. I can't state to people enough what a difference it makes. When they drive my car though, they understand.

I have an APC office chair and it's fine for an office chair. And overall the APC seats are pretty supportive laterally. They are not the most comfortable for long hauls but they can be tolerated. The real downfall to them is you have to make custom brackets. They come with universal sliders but not brackets. And they do not have a flip forward function. If you want to get anyone/anything in the back seat you have to turn the dial.

I prefer the Corbeau CR1's. I have them and really like them. They are comfortable, supportive, and resonably priced.
