Question on hood blister install 3 rd Gen.

Hi,i just picked up a set of Hood Blisters off of a 91 Z28, do they bolt right in place of the Louvers on my 86 Z28 hood?

Also from the factory was there some type of Mesh or was it a Carbon Fiber sticker where the opening should be on the back? Thanks alot

Re: Question on hood blister install 3 rd Gen.

Its been a quite a few years since I sold my 1987 IROC-Z, but I replaced its original louvers with the '91-'92 blisters. It was a simple job, the louvers are just attached with plastic nuts on the underside of the hood. The blisters are a direct replacement, use the same holes and attachment method. Took about 5 minutes total. Then reinstall the hood liner, and you are done.

With regard to your second question, I'm not sure what you mean. The blisters have a mesh area on them (which is plastic and fake in that they do not do anything except look cool), I never changed it or had to do anything to it. I was lucky my blisters were black, so I never had to have them painted.

I always wanted to add the big '91-'92 rear wing and ground effects too (I had the '91-'92 wheels), but could never find one to buy.

Thats what I figured on the mounting part, I am just wondering what was there from the factory as far as a wire mesh or a sticker.

Re: Question on hood blister install 3 rd Gen.

The factory piece is definitely not mesh, its a plastic trim piece that resembles the hood "vent" pieces on a 1993-1997 Camaro Z28, and fits into the depression on the back side of the blister. I can't recall, though, how it is attached (double sided trim tape or those trim rivets?). Regardless, my used hood blisters came with them, and I just bolted the blisters on. They were still on the car when I sold it years later (which I still regret doing).
