Question about L.E.D bulbs in taillights

i jsut cleared my tailights on my T/A and i bought some red led bulbs at autozone the other day
i bought the replacement one (3157)
but when i turn on the blinker they do not blink

Do i need a new flasher when you get l.e.d's?
or do i need something else?
all the bulbs in my car are brand new

any help is appreciated
thanks
nathan

I don't know if you can hook them up backwards, but led's only work one way. That's the definition of a diode (or a light emitting diode). It only allows current to flow in one direction.

You need the electronic flasher. It can be had at Autozone. I forgot the part number, but I had to buy one when I put LED's in my clear corners. Worked like a charm.

Yup, you need one of the electronic flashers that are load independent, sometimes they are marketed for towing applications (because of the trailor lights).
