Question about a 98' SS hood on a 96' Z28

I want to put a 98+ hood on my 96' like the title says and wanted to know if it could work with minor frabrication? I kinda have a picture of what it would look like in my head and I think with some body work to the hood I can make it look good on my car with the ground effects I want to put on it. So has anyone ever tried this before or have any idea of what is needed?

Thanks
Myles

I am pretty sure you have to swap the front ends to make it work at all. The fenders on the LS1 sit at a different height than the LT1's so it won't even come close to lining up.

he said he wanted to put the hood on his car, not make it actually open and close and look right.

It will bolt up, but thats about it.

Why? The SS hood scoop is the same for the LS1/LT1... wtf is the point? Why not get an LT1 SS hood?

Re: Question about a 98' SS hood on a 96' Z28

The reason I wanted a 98+ hood is because of the contours that go up both sides of the hood parallel with the fenders (because of the different lights) but I want to keep my front end, lights and all, and whatever I would have to do bodywork to to make it look right I would do. I just wanted to know if the top of the fenders would be flush and if the hinges are the same, etc. but I'm guessing no from what ceebee94Z said it won't work without the fenders and nose which I don't want to change because I like my nose better on my 96'. oh well thanks for the input.

Ya sorry to burst your bubble but there right you would have to change the whole front clip , Chit if you can get one for a good deal pick it up resell it & buy the one that will fit for your car or trade it for one that will work for your car, just an idea.

Re: Question about a 98' SS hood on a 96' Z28

I wanted a 98+ because of the extra contours on the hood that accent the 98+ headlights, that's the only reason other than the 98+ SS hood would work better for the modifications I want to do to it but whatever.
