powder coating question

powder coating question

deos any one know for sure if forged aluminum wheels can be powder coated? got some crazy ideas but need to know if it can be done first?? any help would be greatly appreciated.

anything that can carry a current can be powdercoated.

that sounds logical. i was think that part would work. but i was mroe concerned with the baking process, like if the meta would be too soft for the baking process.

it was my understanding that they used electrical current to bake the coating on, but I could be wrong.

However, I know people who had their computer cases powdercoated and that is pretty cheap metal.

They use electrical current to get the coating on. and then bake it onto an oven.

Just about anything can be powder coated, even wood. The shop should put the cast part into the oven for several hours and then sandblast, coat, and finally cure it. There are ways to cure the powder other than an oven, but the oven is the most common.
