Exclamation Potential new interior dress-up product - need opinions!

Hello all!

I would like to get everyone's thoughts on something and I figure this is the best place to post about it.

You know the factory tilt column **** in 3rd and 4th gen cars? I guess that is what it is called. It is the lever you pull to operate tthe tilt mechanism on the steering column.

We have a prototype of an replacement made of 6061-T6 aluminum that we are looking to have made and available for sale. We think that this will make an excellent appearance item and will add a bit of style to the interior and will compliment custom interior schemes nicely.

You can view pics here of the prototype here.

This is a ROUGH prototype. Actual production version will be much higher quality as far as finish and all.

Othewise, it is the same size, shape, etc. as the factory lever, except for the end. Instead of just cutting it off at the end, we will have a slight indentation to give it just a bit more style. This can be see in in pic #1.

We need to get an idea of how many would buy one if we did indeed go ahead with a production run. If there is enough people willing to buy, we will be able to go ahead and start taking pre-orders or even set up a GP. These may only be made in a limited quantity, time will tell. Expected retail would be in the 24.99 to 29.99 range plus shipping.

So, please give your thoughts!

I think it is definitely neat and something different. I'm undecided if I'd buy one. I'd have to go look inside my car and see if it would look alright.

Id be interested in one, and possibly my BF too...

I currently making some custom brushed aluminm pieces for my interior-replacing the radio and AC cover plate and then a plate that runs the whole length of the center console. Kinda like this: http://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/show...t=metal+guages
only not as fancy, just stock replacements...maybe something I can make and sell without too much work...

Hmmm the more I look at it and think about it, the more I want one, in black if possible. I'd definitely pay under $30 for it.

Is there going to be a colored option??? Not that the brushed aluminum looks good, but as you can already see there are those out there who want an anondized option in red or black.

IMO I think it is a great idea, to add a custom look to something that rarely sees dress-up.

I wouldn't spend $24.99 on it. Actually, I don't think I'd be interested in it at all. I'd rather spend that money on something else.

Sorry.

It looks okay, I would not get one because I do not have many mods for the interior and it probably would not look right. Is it hard to install?

Takes about 10 seconds to install as no tools are required. Unscrew the stock one, screw in the new one. It is literally that easy.

Thank you for the feedback, all. If you know someone who might be interested in this who might not have seen this thread here, please do us a favor and let them know about it.
