possible new cowl hood

I can't remember where I found this hood but I think it looks awesome. I like how the cowl part of the hood has nicely curved lines unlike some cowl hoods that have sharp straight lines which in my mind don't match the 4th generation f-body very well. I think it would look as good on trans ams as it does on this camaro. It would give another option to the limited styles of aftermarket hoods available for the 93-97 trans ams and could hopefully be produced.

Picture of the hood

also if anybody has any photoshop skills i would very much appreciate someone to put that hood onto the trans am in the link below.

If anyone likes that hood and wants to see it produced...
Layne at VFN is considering producing it but wants to find out consumer interest. Contact him and let him know you like the hood.

I don't know the answer to that. Sorry.
His name is Layne and he is working on all sorts of stuff for our cars.
VFN has been around for decades. Alot of folks have their hoods, I haven't heard anything bad about them at all, but I haven't had one either.
They make fiberglass for lots of different cars, they also make complete fiberglass bodies.
Layne posts on LS1tech.com, I highly recommend contacting him and checking if you have questions.
Good luck
Dave

VFN is located in Addison, IL (Chicagoland), their number is 630-543-0232. I have their 4 inch cowl induction on my 95 Z and really like it.

That hood definately has smoother edge lines than mine.
Looks good.

Not sure if it will ever hit the market though.

VFN makes some great hoods. I stopped by their shop once while I was getting a dyno run at Street Stuff which is just half a mile away. The hoods are definately really light, but the bolt-on ones are probably 3 or 4 pounds heavier than advertised. Still, a 22 LB hood is still a LOT lighter than a 55 LB one. I'll probably get a stock-style bolt-on hood to take some weight off my front end.

Once I get my engine back together, that is....

Well, I sent VFN an e-mail about that hood. Here was their reply...

E-mail from Jean Kent at VFN
Hi. Thanks for stopping by. We have been recieving many requests on this particular hood, but unfortuneately it has been decided not to produce this item. You can check with Harwood in Taylor tx, they make this item and make a good product. Thanks.
I thought the Harwood hood was a lot different than the one on that blue Camaro. Maybe it's just me...

Oh well...

Email them back and tell them they are full of it. The Harwood hood looks nothing like that. The only thing they have in common is that they are both cowl style hoods. Beyond that, not even close.
What is the email address? I can't seem to find it.
Thanks
