Polishing chrome

I just got a used Borla system from a guy (awesome deal too!) and it's got some road dirt/dust caked on it. How should I clean the system and polish the chrome tips? They're shiny under the gunk and dust. I want to clean up the whole system so its a lil less dirty putting it in.

Mothers Chrome polish works really well. Same with Mcquires.
make sure you get all the dirt off of it first then clean them with polish.

Clean how?

How do I clean them before polishing? With cloth? Oil? Soap? What do I use? Not scrubpads? Any help is greatly appreciated.

anything but scrubpads. You can even soak them for a while in a pail of water & car soap.
