I am buying a polishing wheel to get some of my engine bay parts nice and shinny! Any tips or tricks for me?
Also what parts should I shine up? I am planning on the valve covers, MAF, AC condenser. What else?

This is the best LS1 engine bay I have ever seen. Hopefully that will give you some ideas

Lots of nice chromed pieces, even the Hotchkis 3-point stb. Steel-braided hoses rule, battery cover and everything looks clean enough to eat off of.

he had it all done I dont think hes on this board he on ls1tech.com on the polishing be sure u get a bench grinder with enough speed to turn the wheel when you put pressure on it.Im in the process of doing this right now having over 2 grand in stuff chromed.the rest of the things is what im polishing.Be sure to get different wheels for different polishes and stages.Go to www.eastwood.com they carry about everything you need.there Im also running the polishers that hooks up to a drill and have them for a dremel for the tight spots. On several things you dont need to put on the wheel some you will just need some real fine polishing steel wool.I use this polish called blue magic Ive had more luck with it than anything else ie mothers. If you have any qs let me know by pm

Re: polishing
I followed his advice on polishing - I got some assorted 3m wet/dry sandpaper, cheap felt, spray adhesive = paper for my mouse...
Then spent $30 at Sears for polishing wheels and rouge. I never knew it was this easy - but my entire accessory bracket is polished after a few hours work. It's time consuming, but the results are very impressive.
I havent tried any of the lighter rouges on plastic though, they say they work - I'm tempted to grab a scrap piece and give it a whirl just to see what happens...
