Pin on hood vs. bolt on hood?

Is the pin on hood as durable as the bolt on hood. Would I be better off with the bolt on hood for dail driving. I was looking at new hoods and I really like the VFN 2in cowl like Brent has. I was just wondering if it would be safe with the pin on hood?

You do know that a pin on hood doesn't use factory mounting locations and that you would have hood pins all around it right?

Exactly, the pin on are normally race hoods and usually much lighter than bolt on's. To keep the hood on my 84 I had to install Dzus fasteners all around the perimeter, plus the pins. They also develope stress crack more easily.

Just get a bolt-on. You'll not want to deal with a pin-on with a street car.

also if you have a pin on hood wouldnt people be able to get into the engine bay of your car if they wanted?? to steal things or mess with stuff? if this is true i guess it just depends on what kind of neighborhood you live it, but not to sure on that thought

I live a pretty good neigborhood. The only place where my car would get messed with would be at school. There are alot of jealous kids in that school. Nobody has messed with my car thank god but some kids who were lucky enough to get new cars have had problems. One kid got a new cugar and some kids broke the window jumped on it keyed it and kicked it. I thought that was screwed up. I hate jealous people who just want to break your stuff for the hell of it. If somebody would've messed with my car I am going to tear their head off.

They sell pin kits with flush mounted lockable "nut". They're the kind of locks you see on Coke machines
