It took a little while...I think a few days of on/off over the weekends. If you drive the car alot it can discolor I have heard, but mine has not yet. Yes, it is 70 thousand...Including buying it at 19500 in 1995. OUCH.

i did not polish the bracket, just the alternator. i will either polish or powdercoat the bracket next time i take it off though. the alternator took me about 7 hours using just a dremel, sandpaper, and green scotchbrite pads. it was a pain, but worth every minute. the nasty looking alternator is makes the whole engine compartment look nasty.

Craig - It worked when copied it. I remember your car from going to the fog light install you have like a year ago. That was a great resource for the install, thanks. I will send you and email about this topic.

CamaroCasanova - NEVER let your wife get away. That's all I can say, besides nice car!

95Z28 - I tried a small spot on the top of the alt. after I did my brake lines last week. I just used a little 600 wet/dry DRY and it smoothed out a he11 of a lot quicker and better than I expected. Of course the tighter places would be time consuming but it was encouraging to see it shine so easily. Is the bracket easy to remove? I am hoping to be back near the car by the end of the weekend but I was just curious if you knew.
