Hey guys...I tried the paint care section with no real help, so I will give it a try here...

I broke off my passenger side mirror a few weeks ago and I picked up another one, but the paint doesn't match my other mirror...it's flat black and not gloss, so I want to paint it...

I want to paint it myself, so what do I need to do?

What kinda prep...sand paper, primer, etc?

Can I paint with an over the counter spray can automotive paint and have it look ok?

How many coats of the gloss black?
How long in between coats?
How many coats of clear?

Any suggestions on what products to use would be great too.

I know some guys in here have painted some of their own stuff so I am giving it a shot. Thanks for any help.

yay i need to do this do i had factory white mirrors and wanted black ones so i bought some off ebay and now i have a cool project to do
just need to make some thing to hang them on hmmmmm......

yea, just scuff it with some light sandpaper and get a can of glossblack for like exterior automotive they will have it. do a ton of light coats. im tellin you like you will still see the flat black underneath until at least 5 sessions. if you do a ton of very light coats, it will come out nice, otherwise youll get runs, and orange peel. or i bet Maaco will do it for like 20 bucks.hehe
