my buddy painted parts of his mustang interior with vynil dye....when he told me he was going to do this i was shocked. It looked like crap the first coat them he add two more coats and its looks amazing...you can even paint leather with this stuff it works great and he didnt even wipe down the pannels before he sprayed them and it still has great adhesion with no chips

rit dye works really well but is hard to do bigger pieces

Thats what I used on my dash trim. I sanded the trim pieces down then Duplicolor also has an adhesion promoter that I used as my base. I then went with a high build primer and then the color (a dark gray mettalic) and clear.

If you want pics I could snap a couple.

I painted all of my interior plastic panels, and dyed the rest of what the paint couldn't stick to. Here is my thread:

I finally have my trans am door panels in too and I had to dye those as well...but I have found leather dye also dyes the plastic...just an FYI

Yes, if you are going to do something to your carpet, do it now...while everything is out! Trust me.

Here are some thumbnails. Most are of the radio bezel because thats the largest part which makes it easier to see. I actually ended up having to sand this part down twice and repaint because my last clear coat layer didn't want to stick on the previous one. Second time around I just stuck with one clear coat.
