Painting the calipers

Hey everyone, since I have a larger garage to keep my car this winter, instead of throwing it in storage, I was planning on working on the brakes. I already have the pads and rotors but plan on painting the calipers as well since all of it will be very visible next season with the C6 wheels. Looking for some input on what color you think would go good with the exterior paint color. My first thought is a glossy black.

I think you should go red. Red is the color of the makers of competition brake calipers. Z06's have red calipers. Besides, with your rims, black calipers will almost be invisible. By the way, nice looking Camaro!

Re: Painting the calipers

Nice car. It looks a lot like Kermit. Do you have any updated photos with the C6 wheels on it?

As to the brake calipers, I'm not feeling the red on a green car. I used to have a Emerald Green K-20 pickup (back in the day). I painted the white wagon wheels that were popular back then, a dark bronze/copper color. It was a very nice contrast and I think it would look good as a caliper accent on The Hulk. I wish I could do a better job describing the color. It was almost like red, gold and maybe brown mixed together.

Believe it or not, I still have those wheels in my garage! Unfortunately, I painted them silver to go on my beater Toyota 4x4.

Thanks for the replies and the feedback ....and I hope that more keep coming. My first thought was the red because like you said most competition calipers are red, but the black idea came about when thinking about trying to keep the car's color scheme of green with black "accents" (if you can call it that, but whatever).

And sorry, dont have any pics with the C6 wheels on there yet. I need to get new tires for them so I wasnt driving them right now. Its killing me to have them just sitting in the garage.

Re: Painting the calipers

I ended up deciding to go with black and will be doing white "Camaro" decals on the calipers to make them pop. Started the project this past week finally.

Re: Painting the calipers

I think black will be better than red on a green car. Consider the gold paint on the letters Be sure to post some photos.

I thought about gold, but white/silver would go better with stripes i plan to get done down the line. Red with the green would make my car look like christmas tree despite the fact that most high performance calipers are red

Green is a great color for Camaros. And you're right, red would make it too Christmasy.

You know, if you want them to pop out some, you could paint the calipers silver with black lettering! Just sayin'.

That'd look nice, I plan on doing mine in blue with silver brackets this winter when I put my new center caps on the ZR-1's.

Re: Painting the calipers

Red. Red is ALWAYS the correct answer (but only for brake calipers, I hate seeing red suspension/chassis parts). This car used to be owned by my friend Chad on here. It's the best LT1 Camaro home-modified that I've seen (I liked all of his suspension mods, brake mods, and wheel mods).
