here's the basic steps
1 sand smooth
2 clean with dish soap and water
3 use some plastic adhesive promotive primer
4 spray color (like 3 coats)
5 spray clear (like 3 coats)
make sure you find some really good clear coat
and try to make a place to work in where its dust free
After you are done I would let the paint cure for atleast a day before I even thought about installing them back

You do not have to sand them smooth, just go over them with scotch brite, wash with dawn dish soap (blue), dry em good.
Then prime them and paint them. Remember, THIN coats to start.
I did not clear coat mine. I used Krylon Primer and Krylon Fusion Plastic Paint.
I am VERY pleased with the way they turned out.
The better the primer the better your paint will stick...
I dont think you need to buy the most expensive stuff they got but I wouldnt get the cheapest either!
Try the Krylon Primer, $4 a can and alot better than that cheap 99 cent/can automotive grade spray can primer.

Whats up with all the interior paint question? You paint metal, you dye plastic and upholstery. I would think paint and clear would give you a gloss finish on what is usually matt or semigloss. Using the proper dye will give you the same type finish.
I sanded all of the parts I wanted to paint first. Then I sprayed a can of adhesive that makes paint stick to plastic on. Then I sprayed about 5 coats of paint on. Don't worry if you dont get all of it the first coat, its better to do more light coats than a lot of heavy coats and get dripping. After the paint, I put about 3 or 4 coats of clear coat on. I was very happy with the results. I have pics in the sig of the interior.
My spaker grills look nice.. I am worried it might go rice and I do not want to do that. I like the flash it added to the grils. Now if I were to do one more part on my 97 what would you guys recommend.
