paint nightmare..please help!!!!
ive got a black 99z28 and a couple of monts ago i made the biggest mistake. some one scratched the top, in between the rear window and the t-tops, so i decided to paint it(the top only). i had it painted by a decent shop and was happy with it. four monts later i noticed a bubble in the paint, so i took it back to the guys and they honored the warranty and reshot the paint. the very next day i saw bubbles again, so i took it back. anyway to make it short, the top has been painted four times without any success, my car looks like a piece of junk with all those bubbles.
there must be a way for the paint to stick on there, can anybody help me and tell the process or what to do, different primers have been tried an PPG paint is being used, should i try a different shop, or is there a specific way to painting this spot??????

I'd definately recommend an epoxy primer to seal the bare SMC material of that sail panel. It sounds like the panel needs to be stripped, prepped, then baked in their bakeboot (or curing lamps can be used) to make sure that there will be no gases to be released after the final coat is on. Then shoot it in the epoxy primer (if they use PPG, they'll likely use DP90 which is a black epoxy, or there's also a white version available as well)... and then bake it again. If nothing comes through the epoxy, you should be all set. Hope this helps, good luck.
My paint is starting to get bubbles all over the place... do they look like pimples? Like.. they aren't clear right? The bubbles/bumps are the actualy paint correct? I've had my car over a year now and they just all started to show up for no reason at all! They're on the hood, and both doors.. no where else.. hmm? But I was told the car was never repainted. And I trusted the other owner. Car was stock when I bought it off him.. oh well.. I'm getting a new paint job soon enough...

Sounds like they didnt use a product called "final kleen".
If its all the paint and primer coming up its probably cause they still have another product called "first kleen" on it. First Kleen strips all old wax, tar, bugs, whatever off the panel but its a harsh chemical, if you dont clean it off right paint wont stick to it.
If its just the basecoat and clear maybe they arent using compatable paints, but if its a legit shop Im sure they know how to mix paint.
