Paging meissenation.....
Hey meissenation, I was looking on your page (Nice looking car BTW!) and I saw your door panels and was very interested. How did you cover that top section with red leather? Did you do a write up? I'm looking into doing something like that real soon and just wondering how you did it. Any info would be appreciated! Thanks in advance,
Re: Paging meissenation.....
Hey, glad to hear my work's appreciated!
I did do a write up, which can be found here
If you have any questions along the way, feel free to email me at meissen@meissenation.com or post here and I'll be more than happy to give some tips and what not. To get started, make sure you get some 3m Spray Adhesive. My father found it at a billiards / pool table repair place.. they use the spray adhesive to spray the felt onto the bumpers. It's a pretty popular product, and works great... that makes sticking the red vinyl to the cloth very easy.
Have fun, and good luck!

Re: Paging meissenation.....
Oh, and hey just a tip. If you plan on repainting the plastic paneling parts, AND recovering the cloth area with the vinyl.. don't use the Duplicolor. Mine's already starting to flake and chip. Try using the Krylon Fusion paint, they have a gloss black which matches the duplicolor's gloss black perfectly, but that stuff is supposed to be garaunteed never to chip/flake because it bonds to the plastic on a molecular level... I used it on my dash with the flames (I dun think I put that in the car domain section yet, so a link is below just for craps and giggles) and the Fusion will go onto our plastic panels a lot easier than the Duplicolor does.. it seems to be thicker or something, it just doesn't drip and run as easilly as the Duplicolor did when I painted the door panels. Ah well, just thought I'd let ya know.. that way you won't have nice little gray scuff marks along the bottom of yours like I do now
