Good deal!
How tough is that going to be to put in?

What advantages are you getting putting an LS1 rear in?

Is it like the middle ground between the LT1 rear and a 12-bolt?

Question

Is it that much stronger than an LT1 rear end? Was it justified spending $$$ over a 12 bolt?

the only reason i went with the LS1 rearend was for the brake setup.
I only got $225.00 into the complete setup. (pieced it together)
that way i could work on it without having the down time for my car.

i was just going to put the LS1 brakes on my LT1 rearend but the axle housings are different, so i had to do the complete rearend swap.

Actually the housing isnt different. It is the brake backer plates. Pull the axles, and switch to a set of LS1 style backers and you can use the LS1 brakes on the rear end too. I did it myself

the housings are different.
2 totally different GM part #'s
the only difference i could find "visually" is lip that the backing plates slide onto, one is wider than the other.

That being so, you can still use the LS1 brakes on a LT1 rear end. That is all I am trying to point out. I would be willing to bet, that the difference in part numbers has to do with the different backers. But they will interchange to either rearend, and either car.

I hope they fit, I have some LS1 rear brakes that I have yet to install. I do not think there is much advantage to these over LT1 brakes though. I just got em cuz they were practically free with the front brakes and already ground to fit Weld Draglites.

dreamer1q how hard is it to do the rear brakes, i know the fronts are easy, i might be able to get a good deal on front and rear Ls1 brakes and just wanted to be sure before i buy it, i hate the stopping power of the lt1

Honestly the rear swap sucked. Chuckie probably had a better idea in swapping the whole thing. You need to pull the axles to swap the backer plates.
