Opinions wanted for LT1 Trans Am upgrades....

Ok guys, I'm stuck at an impass and I'm not sure what to do. First off, this is my current ride, a Mystic Teal 1997 Trans Am:

Front:

Back:

I'm already set on getting the Honeycomb rear taillights (I love the way they look). Where I'm stuck at is the front end. I want to do one of two things. The first option is to get a newer style ram air hood and put it on. I do not like the Suncoast Raptor-style hood, I like the U.S. Exotics style, kind of like this one:

Or...I could just go all out and do the 98+ Style conversion and throw on a Firehawk hood (which is my dream style Trans Am). I'd be happy with either, but I must admit it would be a LOT less money and hassle to just get the hood for the LT1 style. Now what do you think I should do, just do the hood and keep a clean-looking LT1 Trans Am on the road or go all out and do the front end conversion? I'm stuck 50/50 right now and not sure which way to go.....

Get the hood. You have a really nice color, I'd try to keep as stock as possible.

Thanks for the compliments! While I really wanted an LS1 WS6 when I was looking for another F-Body, this one was so clean and the price was so perfect that I just had to snag her up. I'd hate to do anything to extensive to her since she is basically one of the nicer LT1 Birds I've seen in a while. I'll probably end up going with the hood and just have the front bumper repainted (a few rock chips) and the fenders blended and call it a day. Thanks again!

Might as well just get the front end conversion, even if you buy a nice LT1 hood, you are still gonna want convert the front end, and then you gotta buy another hood!

I did the '98 up T/A conversion on my '95 Formula a month after I put on my nice LT1 WS6 hood.

Here is my car---

I think the LT-1 t/a's look really great, especially in mystic teal! I don't think I would go with that style hood though, the fact that it's more round in shape doesn't flow with the more angular front end of the LT-1 cars. I think that this hood looks great on the LT-1 Trans Ams and flows better with the lines of the front end.

I agree with you on that hood, it's a nice addition but it's not overly aggressive. At the same time the hood posted by the op is more similiar to the 98-02 ta's and if that's the look he's going for I think it works.

Another vote for the lower profile ram air hood. I think your car looks awesome as is. My next car will be an LT1 or LS1 T/A.

i HAD that ramairhood.com hood on my car but since decided to swap for a LT1 style ram air hood. at first i thought that hood looked bad *** but after having it on for a while it started to drive me nuts b/c it kinda looks out of place on my car. for your car i donno how it would look b/c it all depends on the color. just remmeber if you get that hood DO NOT USE YOUR STOCK SHOCKS ON IT. in my opinion i would put some good looking wheels on, lower a little and add a LT1 style ram air hood and it would look sick. if you do plan on putting on a LS1 frount clip with a firehawk hood.... better pull out the cash for that hood good look with the car man its really slick and im sure it will look even better when you are done

I would never do a front end swap on an LT1. Your car can look sweet after some wheels, hood, and lowering!

ram air hood. Granted I like the ls1 bird front ends but LT1's have the cleaner look with a ram air hood. So I say ram air hood, wheels, tint and you'll be good.
