Opinions please - SS hood scoop
Later this year I was planning on getting a SS hood. I can't afford a GM hood but I'm worried about the fit of the hood. I was going to try to get the best fitting aftermarket SS hood possible. Then I saw this: http://neugenmotorsports.com/SSHS.htm I'd like some opinions on this. Would this look good or be ricey, anything like that? I figured that if that worked, it might be cheaper than an aftermarket hood plus I'd still be using a GM hood so the fit would be good.

You'd probably be getting close to the cost of an aftermarket hood after you buy that thing and have a body shop mold it on/paint it for you. Unless you can do it yourself that is. I wouldn't do it personally.

I have seen real LS1 SS hoods go for 500 bucks since those cars are really abundent compared to LT1 cars. I would just get a GM hood. I understand why you would like to keep the stock hood, but going to a fiberglass one sure saves some weight. Just an extra benefit.

I think your hood right now is metal... that scoop is fiberglass...
Not a good idea or worth it IMO, especially once you add the price for a decent paint job to match your factory color. Also, there is the potential for whatever you use to mold it, to become weaker or crack over time and/or collision. It is not worth the risk unless you have your own bodyshop IMO.
Better to just get a Fiberglass SS hood and weight savings like he said.
