Question Opinions for new hood.

I have a black LT1 Z28 and like most want an aftermarket hood. With this in mind I am contemplating either a fiberglass Sun Coast Creations Z style.

From Brent's appearance guide

or a big block style similar to the RK Sport hood

From Brent's appearance guide

The catch is the big block style I want is true carbon fiber. I don't want to paint it since the carbon would blend somewhat with the black (entire car repainted). The idea being to see the hood was in fact carbon fiber, but without having the unfinished look. Maybe a light coat of black on it perhaps and then clear coated? Forget the carbon fiber all together and get one or the other in fiberglass only?

Opinions?

Of those 2 I would pic the big block hood and paint it gloss black to match the car. I would only get the carbon fiber if you are concerned about saving weight. I don't know how much extra $ the cf costs but I would most likely get the fiberglass because it is cheaper. JMO

I like the Ultra Z hood compared to the big block hood. something about the design of the hood scoop on it is not doing it for me. but I do like the shape of the GM style aftermarket SS hood.

RK Sport make fiberglass hoods then adds a layer of carbon fiber on top for looks. They do look great but you aren't saving any weight over fiberglass. It's an extra $100 for fiberglass. Maybe that is the only way they are making them now.

The picture I referred was for general style ideas. The company I would get it from makes a true carbon fiber hood. I would not be getting the RK if I did go with a big block style, fiberglass or not.

I like the looks of the SS, but to common for me. I will probably go with an SS wing though, or a modified one atleast

I've got the suncoast creations on my ride. When you get the engine hot, you can see heat waves coming out of the openings in the rear, it works. Check out my pic of it, it's far more clean than a big block hood.

Exclamation

I believe that if you get the Ultra Z hood and induction kit from SLP it's guaranteed not to let water in.
