These have become QUITE hot lately it seems. I am converting my 93 with a
98 front clip right now, and these black ones are on my list to buy.

I would love to do that as well to my LT1 Camaro. But in order for everything to fit right, you have to not only get the LS1 front bumper, but also the hood, and the front fenders. And then when your done (even though I
at the look of the LS1 Camaro front ends) I would feel like a poser having everyone think my LT1 was actually an LS1.
I have strarted a thread in the Appearence section that has a promising new headlamp design for the LT1 Camaro's. I too wanted something that looked as nice as the LS1 Camaro's do. I just wanted it to look original, and have it still look like an LT1.

Well, the only people that will actually "know" that the engines are different
between the two front ends are Camaro fans. Most outside our 'circle' dont
even know the Camaro has been a hatchback since 1982!! I am not worried
about the poser idea. Where I hang out on fridays has been completely taken
over by Mustang guys. Out here in Cali, we all stick together, since fart cars
are the enemy these days. Pretty soon, when Ford and GM merge, this will is
going to be a dead point. I think that the 2009 Camaro will be sold under the
new "General Ford Motors" company anyway. Once this happens, I think that
an "LS1" front clip on an "LT1" car will not much matter.
I have seen the thread on the new headlights for 93-97, I zeroed FocuzTech
in on the thread by recommending their work from the Impala SS Forum.

This is the new ebay thing. Shipping really is not high, in order to avoid higher fees for listing items...They sell the item at a lower price to save cost and then put the difference in the shipping. Alot of people on ebay are doing it to save on the ever increasing cost of listing an item.
Halo's for $150 shipped is a good price. Go to a dealership and ask for the price on a set of new OEM lights...you'd be shocked.

I know you're eventually wanting to go with a cooler headlight assembly, but you do realize that they make car-specific wipes & cleaners that remove the haze found in headlight housings, don't you?
thx
i am interested in returning my stock ones to their former glory.
are the wipes pretty easy? inexpensive?
any more info would be appreciated, cant decide whether to keep the originals or go for the black halos. no way am i paying that much for new OEM.

I was going to try some Meguiars plastic polish on them, it worked great on a
set of front 86 IROC turn signals - they look new! While I have the lense off
I was going to paint the surrounds black, and leave the headlight pockets in
the reflective chrome. I am curious how it will look. I will post some pics. I
would bet SOMEONE has already done this by now. What I didnt like about
these headlights was the ALL chrome look.

I am going to get the black ones, same ones in your link. I saw a guy around my school do a 98 front end conversion on an LT1, it looks clean as hell I don't consider it being a poser. My only thought is that for the price, why not just sell the LT1 and get an LS1?
Well, in my case, the car has 230,000 miles on it, so even though it runs like a
top, I couldnt get zip for it. Insurance is paying for the conversion in a round
about way. Instead of replacing the front clip with same parts, I went for a
98 front clip. The headlights I got with the front clip are pretty boogered up.
I was looking at them close up, and there are TONS of scratches. I will play
with them a little, see how they come out with polishing, and flat black paint
inside the assembly. I can always buy the halos later!
I also prefer the LT1 over the LS1, I know it doesnt make as much power, but
its virtually indestructible, and with the miles I drive - thats good! LS1s have
piston slap from day one, that cant get better with age.
