Sounds good, I might try it on the ZX2 first and see what happens.

Skip scuffing them- just clean them throughly and use adhesion promoter. I did this on my truck a year ago and no signs of coming off- I haven't even gotten around to clearing them- no flaking or chipping yet.

Instead of paying big money for a paint shop to do the job of mixing black & clear and do the labor, would it be possible to get it pre-mixed from a paint shop in a spray can and do it yourself? What mix should be used for a light tint? Like 90% clear, 10% black?

If I could do this to get a really light tint I would do both my headlights and tailights.

go to autozone, and buy a can of rustoleum lens tint. its like $7 or something. also get a $4 can of clearcoat, and youre good. shell out another $6 for some 800 grit sandpaper, and you can do it right

That rustoleum lens tint looks like it works pretty well as long as it's used right, think I'll just pick up a can of that. Thanks to all for your input, thank you n2ceptor for the vid

i applied 2 shades of vht night shade, and since cops are really **** in the bay area about tintin tail lights this was as dark as i could go with no ticket. They look smoked when i dont have my parking lights on. But they definitely look clean when i have them off

This time the parking lights are not on. so pretty decent for 2 shades. I think three would be more darker less visible. and 1 coat would leave you hanging for another shade.

Looks nice, corbakiller. Same year and color as me I'd like to maybe go a shade or two darker with mine. Don't know how the cops are around here about that kind of stuff I saw a newer Ram 1500 with blacked out tails yesterday and I knew someone who did it on their '94 but with the blackout covers and no cops ever gave him any static.

Did you guys remove your tails when you did this or did you leave them on and just mask off the area around them?

Thanks badd02, my partner in crime is a 5.0 owner so i dont really get complimented alot.ahahahah . yeah definitely tint them yourself. I dont know about the smoke covers they seem way too bulky to put on a beautfill car like this.
