Odometer roll forward?
Odometer roll forward?
I don't have the slightest clue on how the 97-02 odometers work.
I'm swaping out the 94's dash for a 97. I dont know how many miles the odometer says yet, but how would I correct them so it reads the true mileage from my 94's odometer?
Thanks.

ok, I'm just going by hear-say, but someone told me that the PCM kept up with the milage and after you hook up the odometer, the digital one, it will read what the PCM is reading. I'm not sure if it's true, but that's the only thing I've heard about it. Good luck.
I also had heard that the PCM on 97+ cars kept up with the odometer as well... and of course, learned this right AFTER I sold my stock 97 PCM (with 29,000 miles on the clock) and had already bought another PCM to send to Ed Wright to edit. However, he never asked my mileage, and when I plugged in the new PCM, it still read the same.
I don't know where it stores the information, but I know now it can't be in the computer.

The only way your gonna get the mileage added is to find someone who can get by the lock put on that ODO once it reads 1 mile . I have a few friends that are GM techs ....they set set the odo to whatever you want as long as the odo reads 0 ...but after it reads even a tenth of a mile ...its all locked . Ya basically gotta know someonw who can get around that . Tech one wouldnt touch it .
I had a 97 cluster in my 95 and it read the mileage the car it came from had . The PCM "may" store the mileage but not to keep the ODO display reading right ...it does that all by itself .

I belive that the mileage is stored in a chip inside the gauge cluster , I dont know if you can advance the mileage or not , I am sure that it is set up in a way that no one short of the origional programmers that created the system could change
