non-ricerific graphics poll
Ok, the body work on my car is almost done so i have to commit to something in terms of paint.
What should i do though? hoodbird, flames, something else?
Whatever it is, it will be very suttle and ghost. Something like black base with black pearl graphics, or a kandy graphic.

Re: non-ricerific graphics poll
Nothin' Simple is good. Black has a lot of character in itself. If anything. Paint the calipers, and the door emblems a subtle color. The simpler the better.

Re: non-ricerific graphics poll
Sweeeeeet, the poll is dead even
THanks for the opinions guys, i appreciate them all.
Just so people know what i'm thinking, i'll reitereate that whatever i do is going to be very very suttle. As in no way that you would see it if i was driving by you, only if i was parked and you were within 5 feet.
On my Harley people will often look the whole bike over and then so "oh, look at the paint job". I'd post a picture, but you can't get the ghost flames on it to show up in a picture.

Re: non-ricerific graphics poll
Honestly the hood bird is the way i've been leaning over the past month. I've never seen anyone with a ghost hoodbird, so that would be pretty sweet. If i do the hood bird I was also planning a matching retro "FORMULA" accross the rear spoiler which is a custom piece to be revealed later.
Keep the responses and votes coming guys. Plain is in the lead and thats the cheapest option! That rarely works out....

Re: non-ricerific graphics poll
Not Sure here....
My Black SS is in the shop going back to perfect bumpers and a fresh buffing and a few coats of Zaino... But it's also getting flat black Zo6's to go along with the powdercoated red calipers.
The screaming chicken is so Smokey and the Bandit... Which is cool in it's own right. If you have a pretty little lady and only take your hat off for one thing, well then you got your answer.
How about a ghost screaming chicken!
Me I have a sickness for FLAT BLACK CARS with Chrome on them.

Re: non-ricerific graphics poll
I think that a set of really trick flames laid out in flat black over the gloss would be really sick
Heres a set I did on Ryan Meldrum race car for this season. I have gotton tons of positive feedback on these since we did them.

Re: non-ricerific graphics poll
I'm from the all black school also. Black 80,000 mile C5 with black wheels and black calipers. I get lots of comments on the wheels which surprises me.
I could see the ghost screamin' chicken on the hood, maybe even flat or semi-gloss, but it would have to be subtle...yeah how subtle can a yard wide bird be?
Put me in the solid black column...almost.

Re: non-ricerific graphics poll
I can truthfully say I've never seen a 100% solid color car with no graphic or accent color/graphic/stripes/etc that was eye popping. They just look bland after awhile. Putting the hoodbird would look sweet, and having it ghost would be even better, I say go for something to make it eye popping, not bland.
Re: non-ricerific graphics poll
Thanks for all of the responses guys.
Hahahahah, A big 10-4 on that Snowman.
I should have been more clear in the poll question, but flames or bird, either way it will be ghost.
Those are definitely badass looking and up my alley, but I think I want something that only the true paint connoisseur will appreciate. IOW, more ghost than that.
If your familiar with PPG colors, you could suggest a custom blend for me. 2 stage or 3 stage, Metallic flake? Chip size? Pearl? I’d like the car to look black 99% of the time and for another color to jump out just on the sunniest of days. I’m wide open for suggestions though. All the paint chips I’ve been looking at are so damn small. I think the shop is going to spray a sample panel for me before final decision.
Triple black is the way to do it. My Enkei’s are gray, but eventually the plan is to get some Black 18” ROH wheels.
How subtle can it be? Here is a picture of the ghost flames on my bike.

If the bike is parked in the sun you only notice the flames if your standing within 5-10’ on the sunny side of the tank. If your standing on the shaded side (facing into the sun) you can’t even see the flames and it just looks gloss black.
I’m talking true GHOST artwork no matter what pattern I choose. What would you think of a bird as subtle as that?
Definitly staying black. I don’t want to have to deal with the door jams, inside of panels, engine compartment, ect. In spite of the trouble keeping it clean, NOTHING looks better than a black car.

Re: non-ricerific graphics poll
Other. I'd have to say... (if you're willing to spend the money, read #1; if not, skip #1)
1. Get a pearly/metallic black paint job
2. Silver racing stripes
3. Paint calipers black or silver (or both)
4. Get silver vinyl fill-ins wherever applicable
5. Get PONTIAC across the top of your windshield.
..and that's all I have to say. It's more or less what I want done on my Camaro...
