new wheel cleaner - am I crazy??

I was struggling with my wheels for about an hour yesterday, and still only had 2 of them done. What I use is simple green cleaner and some shop towels as I have yet to find any sort of cleaner that removes anything just by spraying on and washing off (any suggestions?). I tried Eagle One wheel cleaner...did nothing. Finally I got sick of it, went into the kitchen and grabbed my wife's Dawn Power Dissolver (this stuff is the shizznit for cleaining in the kitchen!!) and sprayed it on the wheel. I have never seen a product dissolve brake dust so fast...I barely wiped the wheel and it was pouring off (its ben a while since I cleaned them)...it took me maybe 10 minutes to clean that wheel, and that was by far the worst one of the bunch! Reading the back of the package, it says its safe in general for painted surfaces, but they can vary and a poor paint job is probably going to come off...since my wheels were chipping off anyway I didn't think it would matter

What do you think? I'm gonna try spraying it on and rinsing it off next time

What about regular dawn ? I bet that stuff would work well too.

My white powdercoated wheels are a bitch to keep clean.
