Which spoiler is that? It looks like it should be placed further back on the trunk.

 

its the freedom design knockoff of the LG motorsports zr28 spoiler. Initially i thought that it should be all the way back on the trunk lid too, but it doesn't line up that way. If you look my keys are hanging out of the rear hatch lock cylinder. The spoiler is lined up with that, so it won't look bad once ther eis a bumper and tailights on the car. If i slide the spoiler back the angle on it gets shallower and the sides don't line up with the body, so that is why we placed it 1" up. If you look at second gen spoilers they sit a lil forward like that too, they just have a flare to them so that they line up with the trunk edge.

I'm not worried about it, it looks badass in person

I don't think you'd say that if you saw it in person. Those 1/4 panels taper in so much at the tail of the car that it is by no means the widest part of the car. That wasn't the exact final position either, just setting on there. The body guy has done some additional work heating up the urethane and shaping it to make sure hte gap is minimized where the spoiler overlaps the 1/4 panels. I'm going to snap some more pictures tommorrow. I'm going to try to get some from further back, they might do it more justice. If you still don't like it, oh well i do

 

i threw up some additonal pics on another page. I can't pic up the curvature of the urethane with my camera phone because its all such a flat grey. The spoiler just looks like a blob, but its actually got some shape to it.

PPG "Blackish Red Mica" will be the base color.

apparently someone doesn't like my car, because the ranking started dropping, haha, oh well.

Final sanding has started. More to come in the next couple days for anyone following the progress....

i like that naked hatch, it looks slick....only thing that could make it better would be a firebird specific spoiler...didnt the dream cruise trans am have somethin like that? and if so is anybody sellin em?

 

So did they use a TA hatch or formula hatch. What is the part number on that spoiler?

 

He used a T/A hatch and took off the wing and then put the G2 ZR28 spoiler on. Looks clean.

 

Reminds me of concept firebird that was made with the shaker hood and spoiler like that.
