Wink New seat upholstery/ detailed an 'ol LT1

The interior was done last summer, I just now snapped some pictures of them. The upholstery is from hawksthirdgen and it's the granite color. I debated on going ebony, but I'm glad I opted for the lighter shade. I also took apart the door panels and used a red hampton vinyl on the doors. I also whipped out the menzerna intensive polish/ final polish/ glaze/ and FMJ for some early summer detailing.

Looks great. In fact your seats are the best looking re-skins ive ever seen on our cars. How did you get them to look like that (no looseness, no wrinkles, etc.)

That looks very nice, and that kit does look to fit extremely well. Not too big on the red door panel, but it's also not my car, so as long as you dig it. I do really like the CME, one of my favorite exterior mods.

Thanks for the compliments.

-It is a true SLP CME. I bought it from SLP back in 2006 when they were liquidating their stock.

-The kit fits great. The installation is simply an exact replacement of the stock covers. Installs with the factor velcro. It doesnt take any masterful installation, it's simply a good product. The material is a little thicker than stock leather, but I prefer it. Compared to the '02 Ebony seats I had in it, this material is softer and holds up better to wear.

-The red door panels weren't my original intent. My car came with the black/red cloth interior from the factory and once I installed the seats, I loved the stock cloth red door panels combined with the more subdued granite seats. I switched from a matching door panel to the red after seeing it. So I actually kept the stock color door panels, I just used a vinyl material to match the seat material. It looks great in person, the panels arent too flashy, but they are a nice touch instead of having a stock interior.

^Those look nice, thanks for posting it. Almost all of the factory seats I've seen have some wrinkles in them, as do the door panels, so its not a big deal. Before reading the caption, I thought those were factory seats.

When I had the '02 ebony seats, I noticed that certain plastics (center console, steering wheel) match the dark seats while others (door panel armrest, c pillar pieces) matched the lighter shade. So you really can't go wrong whether you get the lighter or darker shade. It just kinda sucks that the interior plastic couldn't be one shade.

I really don't like vinyl seats in the slightest (nothing worse than bare skin sticking to it) but your car overall looks very nice besides the slightly odd gray color of the seats. If it was my car, I'd just go ahead and replace the seat covers with some red leather (not vinyl) seat covers to match the door panels. But it's not my car, so if you like it, keep it as is .

Z28Roxy, are those leatherseats.com seat covers? Your headrest stitching is a bit different along with the stitching along the edges.

For reference, here's our factory leather in the '95:

The hampton vinyl doesnt stick to your skin any more than a factory leather seat. I actually prefer this material over the '02 ebony leather seats I had for a short period. My factory seats were the red/black cloth. The design reminded me of an autozone seat cover, so I went with the more subdued granite color. The flash actually lightens the color of the seat up quite a bit so they aren't a slightly odd gray color. I ordered samples of both the granite and ebony colors and decided on this. I've had several variations in the interior and this is my favorite combination.

Those seat covers look amazing, 68z28, and so does your car. Well done.
Did you do it yourself or did a shop fit the covers to the seats?
How did you like the quality of the seams?
The material you chose is the Hampton Vynil Leatherette? I am about to order a set and just wanted to make sure I am on the right track.
Thanks

Thanks. I installed the seat upholstery myself. It's very easy with if you take your time. The backs of the front seats take a while to get them settled all the way to the bottom of the seat. Other than that, hog ringing the rear cushions was the only part that took any serious thought. The covers fit great. I've never used any of the high dollar covers, so I can't compare these seams to those, but I have no complaints with them. I've had factory leather on and off several factory seats, and I haven't noticed any difference in the hawks kit. If you don't want to pay a premium price, I would go with the kit. The material is thinker than factory leather and also a bit softer. I haven't had a single person notice the seats are an aftermarket cover.
