new paint

hey, i have decided to get a paint job on my 95 camaro, i want to know how many clear coats to get...i hear the more the better, i am willing to spend some money on this, but remeber i dont want this paint job to be worth more than the car itself being its a v6..

dad just got off the phone with his friend, he is willing to strip the paint off, repaint it, and put one clear coat on it for $200...and the more clear coats i want will just cost more, i know this sounds cheap, but they have been friends since high school so hes doing us a favor.

i've had cars painted with 5 or more coats of clear. Remember when they wet sand the car, they are gonna take some of the clear off. I say a good number is 5....

he means they wet sand the clear between coats, which takes some of it off

I wonder where he's getting the paint from because good paint cost way over $200 and then he's adding clear coats? Does he work for a body shop?
