Re: New Gauges installed

I dont have the engine in or the electrical hooked up. I will post pics once everything is done. The gauges have red lights in them to match the pontiac red lights.

I've always thought about doing that. It looks really good, now you may have some gauges that look/work better than the stock ones and what you want in there.

Lets see some more pics when its all put back together. I bet a piece of brushed or polished aluminum would look good for the back plate too

I think so also I just have not had the time to do anything with them. I have been out of town and heading back out again tomorrow.

The vents, speaker grills and a few other parts of the interior are silver so I think the brushed would look good.

Thanks guys.

Re: New Gauges installed

Looks really nice. I do have some questions though. When I had tried to do about the same idea, I had trouble getting the 5" gauges inbetween the top and bottom of the bezel. In the pictures of the gauges in the car, with the top cover piece on, it looks as though it sits right on top of the bottom corners of the rings on the gauges, or did you trim it to fit? Also, I was admiring alot of your other albums, and I like alot of what you have done. If I might make a sugguestion you might want to look into the BMR upper panhard bar re-location kit. It might give you a little more clearance if you are having any issues with that!

I also see you have the VFN hood, how do you like it? From the pictures it seems it lines up just as well on your car as it did on mine, very well!

Keep the innovations coming. I always like to see new ideas brought out, or even better yet, when someone actually takes the time to figure out how to make it work for real, instead of just talking about it. I have built custom lights for our cars, using the Piaa's, you should take a look if you have time. I would love to hear your opinions on what I have done, and maybe you could help me with making a surround for them. Also, I have made custom pieces for the black plastic triangles that reside behind our side windows. Had them popped out of aluminum, but only because I love the look of brushed!

Those guages look bad ***. BTW, were you at the F-body Gathering 2 years ago? If so, I remember your car because of the hood and flames:

Re: New Gauges installed

Yeah thats my car at the fbody gathering, the motor was shot last year so I couldnt go. Maybe I will be there this year.

The 5" gauges fit below the top of the bezel but the lower ring sits on the gauges. I am going to cut the lower ring completely off when I get a new bezel w/o the scanmaster. As far as the pan hard relocation I am just going to remove the upper and see what that does. I do not road race so it should be ok for what I am doing. You are correct that is a VFN hood and I love it, fits perfect also with very little time installing it.

Thanks alot guys glad you like it.

I am headed to Australia for a few days I will check this out when I get back.

Thank you for the compliments on the gauge pod. It looks great in your car and im glad everything went well. Also thank you to everyone in here that complimented the product.
If any other members have questions about this hook up you can see this thread I have attached at the end. It has all the members that have purchased the gauge pod so far. There are also night pics, and vidoes of the gauges in action. http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=359091
