New Gauges

Ok, I bought some gauges on E-bay when I got them it just wasnt what I expected, way too bright and to many colors for me.
So I decided to get some new one and bought some from Macwean Sports. I got the silver face ones with the T/A bezel. I just got them in the mail. My question is when I got my first gauges I peeled off my stock gauges. Was I supposed to do that, or put them over the stock ones? Also I got blue leds for the cluster and I was wondering if I could just put them in like normal bulbs or what, ive heard that you need to solder them. Thanks for your help in advance. And if anyone wants to buy my gauges I got from E-bay Ill make you a good deal just let me know.
Heres the gauges I have http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2439149021
There for a V-6.

I was just curious, how long did it take you to get your gauges from Macewen, I ordered mine almost 2 weeks ago (Monday will be 2 weeks). They money went through my account over a week ago (said they usually ship in 3-4 bus days), I am getting a little worried at the moment. Should I or does it take that long?? I e-mailed them 2 days ago and got no reply. Did you ever get the e-mail with the tracking number?

I was getting worried about mine too, I ordered them and for three weeks I heard nothing, but I just got them in the mail 2 days ago. You should just call them there probably backed up.

Maro98..

I did an incondesent bulb to LED conversion..

You can't just "put them in the sockets..

They do need soldering, but the more important part is resistors!!

If you put the LED's in the socket, and put it back in the car, and turn on the lights.. They will most likely smoke and burn out in a few seconds..

You probably have 3.5 or so volt LED's.. You need to calculate the proper resistance.. The only problem is I can tell you a value unless I know your LED's exact spec's..

I'd also recommend using more than 1 LED per socket, and definetly defuse them (use some sand paper in the end so it's not shining on one point.. (You will have spot lights behind your numbers if you dont and they are pointed at the gauge face..))

Here's a picture of what mine look like..

Here's the LED's installed in the socket...

REMEMBER!!! LED'S HAVE POLARITY!!! ONE SIDE IS POSITIVE, ONE IS NEGATIVE!! Hooking it up backwards can be harmful to the LED.. Use a volt meter first to find and mark the 7 or so bulb sockets. Then mark the PCB so you know which way the socket goes in..

I installed white LED's but since there's a blue filter behind the stock gauge face, it's blue.. Oh well Notice how it's slightly spotty in places.. I have fixed this by arranging the LED's while they are on and more defusing..

Take some pictures of your install and final product for us
